Course Withdrawal

A student is permitted to withdraw from a course, provided that the number of registered credit hours after withdrawal does not fall below the minimum study load. This does not affect the student's eligibility for an honors distinction, provided that the conditions for granting it are met in accordance with the University's Academic Regulations and Examinations Executive Rules.

Course Withdrawal Regulations:

  • The number of registered credit hours after withdrawal must not fall below the minimum study load.
  • Course withdrawal is not permitted for students in Level 1 or Level 2 across all colleges.
  • If a withdrawal request is submitted for a course that runs concurrently with another course, both courses will automatically be withdrawn upon approval of either withdrawal request.
  • A student is permitted to withdraw as follows:
    • a. Bachelor's level: Up to (5) courses throughout the duration of study, with no more than (2) courses per semester.
    • b. Diploma level: Up to (3) courses throughout the duration of study, with no more than (1) course per semester.
  • Course withdrawal is not permitted for students of the Arabic Language Institute.
  • Withdrawal from one or two courses during the summer semester is counted within the total number of permitted withdrawals specified above according to the student's level.

Note: Withdrawing from all registered courses is considered a semester withdrawal, not a course withdrawal. A semester withdrawal request must be submitted accordingly.


Steps to Submit a Course Withdrawal Request via Self-Service:

  1. Log in to the Academic System.
  2. Select the Service Menu icon to access services.
  3. Select the Service Request icon.
  4. Select Academic Procedures from the Category icon.
  5. Select Course Withdrawal from the Service icon.
  6. Select the Continue icon.
  7. Select the reason from the Reason icon.
  8. Select Save.
  9. A request summary page will appear — select the Save icon to confirm.
  10. A confirmation message will appear — select OK to confirm the request.
  11. A service request status page will appear, indicating that your request has been added to the list.
  12. To submit a new request, select the New icon at the bottom of the list.

Verifying Request Completion via Self-Service: Access the request status through the Services Menu and verify that the request status has changed from Submitted to a description of the current request status.
