Self-designed Degrees (Minors)​

 (Minors): 

A minor is a self-designed degree option available to university students enrolled in a major program. Thus, the student is enrolled in the major program and in the minor program simultaneously. Minors can be chosen from within the student's own college or from other colleges, providing flexibility in academic pursuits.

Admission Controls:
1. Students can choose to enroll in a minor while pursuing their bachelor's degree, but they must first enroll in their major.

2. To qualify for a minor, students must have completed all first-year requirements of their major, excluding general requirements.

3. Students can only register for one minor that differs from their major, whether it is offered by their own college or another.

4. Minor applications can be amended during the registration period but not afterward.

 5. Minor courses are studied simultaneously with the student's major courses.​

6. Students in minors must adhere to registering courses according to the codes specified in the minor plan and are responsible for any violations.

7. Graduation is contingent upon completing the major's requirements. Hence, fulfilling minor requirements is optional, and students may cancel their enrollment if they are unable to continue.​

8. Students must adhere to course registration and attendance requirements outlined in Article 13 as per the Study and Examination Regulations at the university.

9. Failure to meet the specified attendance percentage may result in the student being ineligible to take the final exam, as outlined in Article 14 and of the Study and Examination Regulations at the university.​

10. Students must adhere to the Study and Examination Regulations at the university.

11. Students have the option to withdraw from their minor due to academic difficulties or other valid reasons determined by the relevant department. Withdrawal requests are subject to Article 17 of the Study and Examinations Regulations at the university.

12. Students may withdraw from a minor course based on Article Seventeen of the Study and Examination Regulations at the university. Such withdrawals count towards the maximum permitted number of course withdrawals throughout the student's major program.​

Students who withdraw from a minor have the option to reapply for minors.

When dropping a course in the minor, students are subject to the Study and Examinations regulations at the university. Moreover, this counts towards the maximum allowed number of course drops during the student's major program.

Failure to continue attending a course in the program will result in a denial “DN" grade being assigned to the student.

If a student fails to register for courses, the college overseeing the minor program must contact the student. Subsequently, the student is responsible for the consequences of non-registration.

Failure to register for two consecutive semesters will result in the cancellation of the student's enrollment, prohibiting them from registering in another program.

Transferring from one minor to another is not permitted.

 Conditions:​

1. The student must be enrolled in a major program.

2. Achieving a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 out of 5.00 is required.

3. Completion of all first-year requirements in the main program is mandatory.

4. Registration is not permitted after the second year.

5. Selection will be based on the availability of seats, admission criteria specified by each college, and the student's GPA.​

(A)  Minors offered at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University include:

(Cybersecurity, Innovation and Business Management, Entertainment and Event Management, Statistics, Zakat and Tax, Sports Law, Creative Content Writing, Mass Communication, 3D Digital Design and Visual Effects, Museums and Digital Technology, Exhibition Design, Fashion Photography, Costume Design)

For such programs, students will be evaluated automatically based on capacity, upon meeting the following criteria:

1. The student must be enrolled in a major program.

2. Achieving a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 out of 5.00 is required.

3. Completion of all first-year requirements in the main program is mandatory.

4. Registration is not permitted after the second year.

5. Selection will be based on the availability of seats, admission criteria specified by each college, and the student's GPA.

(B) Accounting (Minor):

students will be evaluated automatically based on capacity, upon meeting the following criteria:

1. The student must be enrolled in a major program.​

2. Achieving a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 out of 5.00 is required.

3.  Unless their major program is studied in English, students must either receive an exemption from English language courses or achieve at least an "A" grade in the ENG 102 or ENG 102-2 university course.  

5. Selection will be based on the availability of seats, admission criteria specified by each college, and the student's GPA.

6. Completion of all first-year requirements in the main program is mandatory.

7. Selection will be based on the availability of seats, admission criteria specified by each college, and the student's GPA.​

(C) Environment, Health, and Safety (Minor)

students will be evaluated automatically based on capacity upon meeting the following criteria:

1. The student must be enrolled in a major program.

2. Achieving a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 out of 5.00 is required.

3. Students must have passed Biology 101 (General Biology) or its equivalent as a prerequisite.

4. Completion of all first-year requirements in the main program is mandatory.

5. Registration is not permitted after the second year.

6. Selection will be based on the availability of seats, admission criteria specified by each college, and the student's GPA.​

(D) International Pre-School Program (Minor):

students will be evaluated automatically based on capacity upon meeting the following criteria:

1. The student must be enrolled in a major program.

2. Achieving a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 out of 5.00 is required.

3. To qualify, students must achieve a score of 5.5 or higher on the IELTS test, or a STEP of 85%, or its equivalent in standard language tests. Alternatively, they can apply with at least an "A" grade in the ENG 102 or ENG 102-2 university course.

4. Registration is not permitted after the second year.

5. Completion of all first-year requirements in the main program is mandatory.

6. Selection will be based on the availability of seats, admission criteria specified by each college, and the student's GPA.​

E) Creative Writing in English (Minor):

students will be evaluated automatically based on capacity upon meeting the following criteria:

1. The student must be enrolled in a major program.

2. Achieving a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 out of 5.00 is required.

3. To qualify, students must achieve a score of 5.5 or higher on the IELTS test, or a STEP of 85%, or its equivalent in standard language tests. Alternatively, they can apply with at least an "A" grade in the ENG 102 or ENG 102-2 university course.

4. Completion of all first-year requirements in the main program is mandatory.

5. Registration is not permitted after the second year.

6. Selection will be based on the availability of seats, admission criteria specified by each college, and the student's GPA.

Study Duration:​

⦁ The requirements of the minor program must be completed along with those of the major program simultaneously.

⦁ The study duration corresponds to the planned duration of the major program. However, the University Council or its designated representative may extend the program by one semester to fulfill the program's requirements. This extension is considered for the student's eligibility for honors.

⦁ Completion of the minors' requirements varies from one to two years, depending on the program's nature.​

Important note: Admission conditions for minors are subject to quarterly updates as approved by individual colleges.

Application Controls:

1. The online application service will be open during the specified dates for submission.

2. Each student is permitted to apply for only one program within the designated period. Therefore, it is important to choose the program carefully, as additional applications will not be considered.

3. Application submission does not guarantee approval; applications will be reviewed, and approval will be granted based on the sorting results.
