Students may withdraw from a course through the Academic Services on the online Banner system, provided that the number of credit hours remaining after the withdrawal does not fall below the minimum academic load. Course withdrawal does not affect a student's eligibility for Graduation Honors, provided that she meets the requirements for receiving them under the University's Executive Rules for the Study and Examinations Regulations.
Course Withdrawal Requirements
- The number of credit hours registered after the withdrawal must not fall below the minimum academic load.
- Withdrawal from first-year courses is not permitted.
- If a student requests withdrawal from a course that is co-requisite with another course, both courses will automatically be withdrawn if the request to withdraw from either course is approved.
- Students may withdraw from courses as follows:
- Undergraduate: A maximum of five courses throughout the student's period of study, with no more than two courses per semester.
- Diploma: A maximum of three courses throughout the student's period of study, with no more than one course per semester.
- Course withdrawal is not permitted for students of the Arabic Language Institute.
Course Withdrawal for Graduating Students
A student who is expected to graduate may withdraw from a course subject to the following conditions:
- The number of credit hours remaining after the withdrawal must not be less than 12 credit hours.
- If the number of credit hours remaining after the withdrawal is less than 12, the request will be referred to the Permanent Committee for Reviewing Students' Academic Cases at the Deanship of Admission and Registration.
Notes
- Withdrawal from all registered courses is considered withdrawal from the semester, not withdrawal from an individual course. In this case, the student must submit a Withdrawal from Study Request rather than a Course Withdrawal Request.
- The student must continue attending the course until the withdrawal request has been processed in the system by the Deanship of Admission and Registration.
