Princess Nourah University Organizes Scientific Conference on Conveying Saudi Identity across Languages, Cultures

The College of Languages at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University today organized the scientific conference "Translating the Saudi identity through other languages and cultures" under the theme: "We translate our identity." The event was held at the university's conference center under the patronage of Minister of Education Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan and the participation of more than 25 speakers, experts, and researchers in Saudi identity and translation.

The conference aimed to contribute to achieving the first goal of the Saudi Vision 2030 related to enhancing Islamic values and national identity by conveying Saudi identity across languages and cultures and conveying the Kingdom's cultural, literary, historical, and civilizational heritage to the world. It also sought to raise awareness of the importance of languages, translation, and cultural studies in promoting and conveying the national identity to others, ultimately creating a competitive atmosphere among university students in the Kingdom to introduce their national identity through different languages and cultures.

The conference included a range of workshops and scientific sessions focused on conveying Saudi identity in enhancing the Kingdom's positive image.

Topics covered included the identity of the Saudi family, national identity and linguistic communication, the role of translation and publication in conveying Saudi identity to the world, translating national heritage across world languages, our identity, the Saudi identity, media translation, and translating identity in Saudi tourism.

Two accompanying exhibitions were held on the sidelines of the conference. The first, titled "Identity research exhibition," showcased graduation research projects by students of the College of Languages regarding "Saudi identity across world languages" in English, French, and Chinese. The other, titled "Visual arts exhibition," featured works by Saudi female artists depicting the theme "Saudi identity" and various cultural activities.

The conference concluded with the awarding of prizes to the winners of the translation competition, the honouring of sponsors, and final remarks.
