Overview

The Foundation Year Program was established at the university based on the approval of the Minister of Higher Education and the recommendations of the University Council from their 2013-2014 academic year session. The objective of establishing the Foundation Year for the health colleges was to prepare the students with the basic knowledge required from the English language and basic sciences to enroll in the various health sciences colleges. One of the most important factors for success and excellence in global universities is preparing the new students to be able to integrate into the university learning environment through an intensive preparatory program to improve the university's outputs of qualified personnel for the job market. Based on the importance of the Preparatory Year, as proven by global and local experiences, in preparing the student for university studies to reduce the knowledge gap between the outputs of general education and what is expected of the student's performance at the university level, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University has unified the first-year studies for all health colleges in a one-year preparatory program that all accepted students for the health colleges at the university enroll in.

Director's Message

Welcome to the Foundation Year page for the Health Sciences Colleges at the website of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, the distinguished educational institution. The Foundation Year was established based on the approval of the Minister of Higher Education in 1434 AH (2013 AD) and has witnessed rapid development over the past years, continuing its journey of success and productivity. It opens its doors to new batches of students annually, where they receive their education within a distinguished environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure and a unique architectural style, comprising numerous modern technology-equipped classrooms, technical laboratories, and specialized centers such as the Simulation Center and the Medical Research Center, among others.

The aim of the Foundation Year is to equip the students with the essential knowledge and modern-day skills that qualify them to enroll in the various Health Sciences Colleges, paving the way for their success in their specializations and enabling them to become highly competent practical and scientific professionals, making them a valuable asset for the local and regional job market, where many of our graduates are in high demand. The Foundation Year prepares the new students to integrate into the university learning environment, complementing the Health Sciences Colleges and contributing to the university's outputs by preparing the student from the first year to become a qualified workforce for the job market.

Every academic year, our students embark on a new academic and educational experience, and the importance of the Foundation Year lies in preparing the student cognitively and skillfully for university studies, as well as in activating curricular and extracurricular activities through a team of distinguished faculty members, technical, and administrative staff, where the student engages in educational activities within the university community, such as scientific poster presentations, scientific competitions, and extracurricular activities, in a one-year foundational program that all accepted students for the Health Colleges at the university enroll in.
In conclusion, I wish you fruitful and enriching studies, and I invite you to look forward to the world of tomorrow and to achieve a bright future.

Director of the Health Colleges Foundation Year.
