The University of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman, represented by the Department of Physical Education Sciences at the College of Education, launched the Higher Diploma Program in partnership with the Ministry of Education in Physical Education during the second semester of year 1439/1440 AH. The program targets bachelor graduates in Physiotherapy, Nutrition and Physical Fitness, and teachers who have a bachelor's degree in the field of Family Education, nominated by the Ministry. The program aims to contribute to the Vision of 2030 by preparing qualified cadres to find new job opportunities and raise the level of community awareness about the importance of Saudi women's practice of sport and physical activities.
The Diploma aims to rehabilitate many female teachers and graduates of Saudi universities in the relevant disciplines, nearly 100 candidates, to teach physical education to girls in all stages of public education. The Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Maha Bint Abdullah Al-Sulaiman, explained that the Higher Diploma Program in Physical Education comes to support Vision 2030 and the development process which requires flexibility and acceptance of the meaningful and thoughtful change. A vibrant society with an energetic environment indicates the importance of living a healthy lifestyle with a balanced health pattern, raising the level of sports practitioners that positively affect the health of the community and reducing the incidence of chronic diseases.
She also added that the Ministry of Education has adopted the task of qualifying teachers for physical education for girls through the idea of diploma for holders of bachelor's degree in related disciplines through regular study for two semesters. It is noting that the University of Princess Nourah with its potential for material and human resources can provide curricula of high quality. It is worth to mention that Princess Nourah University is nominated by the Ministry of Education to participate in the activation of the diploma. The Diploma of Physical Education program comes in line with the mission of Princess Nourah Bint Abdul Rahman University to be comprehensive for women, distinguished by its educational leadership and scientific research, and contributes to building the knowledge economy in partnership with the community and the world.
