A minor is an optional degree component that provides a supporting field of study different from the student's primary program. Students may choose a minor offered by their college or another college and complete it alongside their primary program.


    1. ​General Regulations
  1. The student must be Saudi or have a Saudi mother.
  2. Enrollment in a minor is optional for undergraduate students. Students may register for a minor only after enrolling in their primary program.
  3. The student must have completed all first-year requirements of her primary program, excluding general university requirements.
  4. A student may enroll in only one minor, which must differ from her primary program and may be offered by her college or another college.
  5. Students may modify their minor application while the service is open. No changes can be made after the service closes.
  6. Students must complete minor courses concurrently with the courses in their primary program.
  7. Students enrolled in a minor must register for courses using the course codes specified in the study plan for the minor in which they are enrolled. The student is responsible for any consequences of failing to do so.
  8. The student will be eligible for graduation once she fulfills all requirements of her primary program. Completion of the minor is not required for graduation, and the student may cancel her minor enrollment if she is unable to complete its requirements.
  9. Students must register for minor courses and regularly attend the courses in which they are enrolled, in accordance with Article 13 of the Study and Examinations Regulations and Implementing Rules at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University.
  10. A student will not be permitted to take the final examination if her attendance in a course falls below the required percentage, in accordance with Article 14 of the Study and Examinations Regulations and Implementing Rules at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University.
  11. The student is subject to the Study and Examinations Regulations and Implementing Rules at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University.
  12. A student may withdraw from a minor due to academic difficulty or for another reason accepted by the department responsible for the minor. If she withdraws from specific minor courses, the applicable provisions of Article 17 of the Study and Examinations Regulations and Implementing Rules at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University shall apply.
  13. A student may withdraw from a minor course in accordance with Article 17 of the Study and Examinations Regulations and Implementing Rules at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University. Any semester withdrawal from a minor course counts toward the total number of withdrawals permitted during her study in her primary program.
  14. A student who withdraws from a minor may apply for a minor again.
  1. If a student stops attending a minor course, she will not be permitted to take the final examination, and the applicable grade will be recorded.
  1. Students should contact their academic advisors with any inquiries regarding course registration.
  2. If a student does not register for courses for two consecutive semesters, her enrollment will be terminated, and she will not be permitted to register in another program.
  3. A student may not transfer from one minor to another.

 


B.      Requirements

To apply for a minor, a student must:

  1. Be enrolled in a primary program at the University.
  2. Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 out of 5.00.
  3. Have completed all first-year requirements of her primary program. Students may not apply after completing the second year.
  4. Eligible applicants will be automatically and competitively evaluated based on the number of seats available in each minor, their cumulative GPA, and any additional requirements set by the relevant college.

C.     Study Duration

  • Complete the minor requirements concurrently with the graduation requirements of the primary program.
  • The study period is the standard duration approved for the primary program under the Universities Law. A student may be granted a maximum of one additional semester beyond the standard completion period to complete the minor requirements.
  • Minor requirements may be completed within one to two years.

D.     Application Procedures

  1. The application service will be available online during the announced application period.
  2. Students may submit one minor preference only during the specified application period. Students should select their preference carefully, as additional applications will not be considered.
  3. Applying does not guarantee enrollment in the minor. Applications will be reviewed, and successful applicants will be notified of approval based on the selection results.
