Established in 1439 AH (2018 AD), the college aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 and the national direction toward economic diversification and increasing female participation in the workforce, particularly in engineering sectors. The college officially opened its doors to students in the 2018–2019 academic year, becoming the first public engineering college for women in the Riyadh region. It offers a specialized academic environment aimed at preparing Saudi female engineers with high-level theoretical and practical qualifications. The college initially launched with three undergraduate academic programs: Electrical Engineering – Electronics Track, Electrical Engineering – Communications Track, and Industrial and Systems Engineering. With the college’s continuous development plans and its pursuit of excellence, additional specialized programs were later introduced, most notably: Biomedical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering, in response to the evolving needs of the labor market and to promote future technological innovation. Since its inception, the college has distinguished itself by providing a modern educational environment, featuring more than 20 well-equipped laboratories with the latest engineering tools and equipment. This setup offers students extensive opportunities for experimentation and practical application. The college has also witnessed a growing interest among female students in engineering disciplines. The college embraces an ambitious vision to graduate engineers who are competent, knowledgeable, innovative, and capable of making significant contributions to the development of engineering sectors across the Kingdom. It also emphasizes the importance of aligning academic projects with community and market needs, through initiatives such as senior design project exhibitions and partnerships with both public and private sectors. Through these efforts, the College of Engineering at Princess Nourah University continues its journey toward excellence, serving as a unique model for empowering women academically and professionally in one of the world’s most critical and challenging fields.
