About The Academic Program

Nature and Goals of the Program

This program is designed to prepare professional engineers capable of designing, developing, maintaining, and monitoring renewable energy systems. Students will acquire a solid foundation in essential disciplines such as electrical engineering, materials engineering, thermal engineering, and information systems. They will also study advanced engineering topics, including concentrating solar-thermal power, solar energy, wind energy, and grid energy storage. This provides a comprehensive curriculum that is both theoretical and practical, equipping students with the knowledge and skills required to meet the demands of the labor market.

Career opportunities

Renewable energy engineers have a wide range of career opportunities across various sectors. They can work in engineering departments within government facilities, electrical power companies such as Aqua Power, and sectors like the Ministry of Defense. Additionally, the petroleum and minerals sector, including major companies like Saudi Aramco, often seeks their expertise. These engineers also play critical roles in engineering design and consulting, within academic institutions such as universities and research centers, as well as prominent Saudi companies and organizations like SABIC, NEOM, and NOMAC. Their primary focus is on the design and operation of systems powered by renewable energy, including wind and solar power. Furthermore, they are instrumental in the development, management, and analysis of wind farm projects, the installation of solar energy cells, the oversight of distribution facilities, refrigeration and air conditioning systems, and applications related to water desalination and distillation.
