During the past month of November, the Medical Skills and Simulation Center at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University concluded a series of specialized training courses aimed at enhancing the competencies of healthcare professionals and strengthening their skills in the fields of critical care, emergency medicine, and clinical guidelines. The training courses covered a range of medical topics, including the “Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)” course, which saw the participation of 37 trainees from various health specialties related to critical care. Another course, “The Use of Ultrasound in Pediatric Critical Care,” was held to develop trainees’ practical skills in assessing critical pediatric cases using point-of-care ultrasound. The center also offered a course titled “Bronchoscopy for Critical Care Patients,” which focused on hands-on training in bronchoscopy procedures for critical cases, in addition to a workshop on “Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) in Pediatric Intensive Care.” In a related context, the “Critical Care Skills” workshop was conducted, providing intensive training on the essential skills required in intensive care units, which contributed to enhancing the professional level of participants. This was followed by the “Clinical Practice Guidelines: Development and Implementation” workshop, which addressed methodologies for developing accredited medical guidelines and best practices to ensure high-quality, evidence-based healthcare. The center also hosted the “Emergency Medicine Residency – Board Review Program,” with the participation of 20 trainees from emergency medicine physicians to review board examination content. The activities concluded with the “Endoscopy Training” event, which provided trainees with hands-on experience using endoscopy equipment and applying basic surgical skills within an advanced training environment. These activities and training courses were organized as part of the efforts of the Professional Development Unit at the Medical Skills and Simulation Center to support the strategic goals of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s Strategic Plan 2025, by developing the skills of healthcare professionals and providing an advanced training environment that contributes to improving the quality of health services.
