The Deanship of Graduate Studies at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University launched, on Monday 21 October 2024, the First Saudi Graduate Studies Forum titled “The Future of Graduate Studies in Light of Saudi Vision 2030,” with the participation of several leadership sectors including universities, government entities, and research and training centers, at the University’s Conference Center. The first edition of the Forum is held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Education, Mr. Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, and aims to enhance awareness of graduate programs in Saudi universities and stimulate cooperation between local and international universities and public and private sector institutions, in order to provide a distinguished educational environment that contributes to the development of higher education in the Kingdom in line with Vision 2030. Over the two-day Forum, sessions feature speakers from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Assessment, and the Human Capability Development Program, in addition to academics, leaders, and specialists in higher education and scientific research. The Forum program includes a scientific symposium and workshops highlighting three main themes: “The Role of Graduate Programs in Achieving Saudi Vision 2030,” “Quality and Excellence in Graduate Programs,” and “Graduate Program Outcomes for Supporting a Prosperous Future and Sustainable Development.” The event also includes the launch of the “Nourah Platform for Graduate Studies,” alongside an accompanying exhibition featuring local and international universities and institutions that support graduate studies. The Forum seeks to achieve several strategic objectives, including preparing innovative leaders, raising public awareness of graduate programs, encouraging the pursuit of higher education, motivating government and private institutions to support research projects, offering excellence scholarships for graduate students, identifying employment opportunities for graduates, and promoting innovation and scientific research. According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), “effective higher education systems are essential to equip people and countries with the advanced knowledge and skills they need to succeed in an era of rapid technological change.” Higher education is therefore one of the key pillars for leading the future in modern societies. The Forum reflects Princess Nourah University’s commitment to academic excellence, the promotion of innovation, the development of graduate programs, the support of scientific research, and keeping pace with global developments in higher education—ensuring the empowerment of the next generation of researchers and students to contribute to building a prosperous and sustainable future for the Kingdom.
