Sports Affairs Department Concludes the “Open Ramadan Championships”

The Sports Affairs Department at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University concluded the “Open Ramadan Championships 2026” on Thursday evening, March 5, 2026, with the participation of approximately 211 students and nine competing teams, held at the university’s Students Sports Club. In the volleyball championship, the team “Fasting Force” secured first place, followed by “Momentum” in second place, while “Elite” achieved third place. In the badminton championship, the team Shaimaa Al-Harbi and Sidra Al-Nasser won first place, followed by Hooriya Kharj and Jouri Al-Zahrani in second place, while Nouf Samhan and Hind Al-Anzi secured third place. In the squash championship, student Nouf Al-Dosari won first place, followed by Ghada Asiri in second place, while Dana Al-Zahrani achieved third place. The championships, which lasted for five days and included participation from students both inside and outside the university, aimed to promote sports activities and competitive spirit among students, encourage physical activity and healthy lifestyles, provide opportunities to showcase athletic skills across different sports, and promote awareness of university sports culture. The second season of the Open Ramadan Championships included three competitive sports: a team sport (volleyball), a doubles sport (badminton), and an individual sport (squash). The competitions were held using a knockout system in all sports except volleyball, which followed a group stage system, ensuring fair competition and dynamic performance among participants. These championships reflect the efforts of the Sports Affairs Department in supporting athletic excellence and talent development and contribute to achieving the objectives of the strategic plan of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University by providing a competitive environment that supports the development of sports talents and enhances students’ technical and athletic performance.
