The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University launched yesterday, Monday, 12 August 2024, the “Digital Fabrication Makeathon” training camp. The camp targets female and male students, individuals interested in robotics technology, the Internet of Things, and digital manufacturing, as well as innovators among entrepreneurs and business owners. The camp aims to introduce digital manufacturing and its importance, highlight key manufacturing machines and how to use them, and innovate products through them. It includes up to eight projects in the field of digital manufacturing for development and for creating three-dimensional and two-dimensional products and new solutions. Projects will be evaluated according to the following criteria: the realism of the idea, the applicability of what was presented in the training workshops, the effectiveness of the project, its development, and its completeness. The camp, which runs until Thursday, 31 October 2024, includes training in CAD Design for robotic systems, programming industrial robotic systems (ROS Industrial), and hands-on training on the use of digital fabrication equipment, in addition to interactive workshops and advisory and mentoring sessions. This comes within the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center’s efforts to contribute to achieving Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s 2025 strategic plan objectives, aimed at providing a supportive environment for innovation and contributing to preparing a generation of creators to build a sustainable knowledge society.
