Two students from the College of Computer and Information Sciences at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) achieved first place in the “Empower 2030” Hackathon, organized by PwC. The winning students, Amal Al-Hemali and Muzun Al-Hallabi, participated as part of a nine-member interdisciplinary team from different universities. Their winning project, titled “TourLens,” leverages augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance tourism experiences at heritage sites and major events. The solution aims to provide an interactive smart tourism platform that enriches visitor engagement and supports the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. Dr. Manal AlOhali, Dean of the College of Computer and Information Sciences, emphasized that the achievement reflects the spirit of collaboration and innovation among students. She expressed pride in the college’s outstanding students, noting that their accomplishments demonstrate strong capabilities in advanced technologies. She also highlighted the college’s commitment to fostering a supportive environment that encourages innovation and active participation in initiatives that contribute to national development. This achievement aligns with Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s strategic goals to strengthen the innovation ecosystem, empower students, and expand their participation in technical and entrepreneurial platforms. It also highlights the growing role of PNU students in technology and innovation fields and their ability to compete at both national and international levels.
