A research project in the field of renewable energy has received an international grant under the International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF) of the British Council, in cooperation with the Research, Development and Innovation Authority in Saudi Arabia. Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University is represented in this project by Dr. Sarah Al-Shehri, a faculty member in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry and Vice Dean for Development at the Deanship of Development and Quality, who will lead the project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in collaboration with researchers from the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom. The project was selected among nine research grants awarded this year in diverse scientific fields of international priority. The proposal focuses on developing innovative solutions for thermal energy storage from desalination plant waste, enhancing resource efficiency and supporting the Kingdom’s direction toward clean energy and sustainability. Priority topics for proposals include leading the green industrial revolution to protect the planet, environmental monitoring and modeling, healthy individuals — research and innovation for safe and healthy societies, antimicrobial resistance and preparedness for future pandemics, early diagnosis and precision medicine, genomics, and genetic diseases. The ISPF is an international funding program that supports the establishment of strategic partnerships between Saudi and British universities and aims to develop joint projects with applied impact in sustainability, energy, and innovation, while facilitating knowledge exchange and capacity building.
