The Deanship of Student Affairs at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University organized an awareness program titled “Ramadan Is Your Opportunity,” aimed at promoting health awareness during the month of Ramadan among university staff and students at the university’s recreational center. The program included several activities, including two lectures titled “Keys to Preparing a Healthy Plate” and “Healthy Alternatives in Ramadan,” addressing how to achieve nutritional balance during Ramadan in terms of portions, quantities, and healthy food choices. The lectures reviewed methods for preparing a complete and nutritious suhoor meal, as well as developing a balanced healthy menu for iftar and suhoor. They also focused on common health issues during fasting, such as headaches and dehydration, providing key guidelines for prevention and reducing associated symptoms, in addition to emphasizing the importance of physical activity during Ramadan. The program also included disseminating messages via email to university staff and students containing key advice on selecting food items that meet nutritional needs. This program comes as part of the Deanship’s efforts, represented by the Nutrition Unit, to promote the concept of balanced nutrition and contribute to achieving the university’s strategic objectives by providing a health-promoting university environment, spreading health awareness among students, and improving the quality of university life.
