The College of Computer and Information Sciences at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University has released the fourth edition of the Artificial Intelligence Bulletin under the title “AI Applications Supporting Persons with Disabilities.” The edition highlights the expanding potential of AI in improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by presenting applications and initiatives that enhance independence and self-reliance. The bulletin covers several topics, including: The AI Revolution in Healthcare: How AI Supports and Empowers Persons with Disabilities, Enabling Independence: IoT Innovations for People with Special Needs, AI as a Personal Assistant, and Enhancing Interaction for Persons with Disabilities through Gamification and the Metaverse. Experts from the AI Center contributed specialized articles, including discussions of AI’s role as a personal assistant supporting mobility and interaction for individuals with motor or visual disabilities through text-recognition and scene-analysis technologies, which help facilitate reading and navigation. The fourth edition aims to serve as a specialized reference on AI applications for persons with disabilities by providing informative and educational content that highlights how these technologies enhance quality of life and offer innovative, modern solutions. The publication is part of the AI Center’s efforts to promote awareness of emerging technologies, transfer knowledge, support Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation journey, and align with Princess Nourah University’s Strategic Plan 2025, which focuses on strengthening research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge leadership.
