News highlights
The Deanship of Student Affairs, represented by the Nutrition Unit at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, organized the awareness program “Safe Food Journey” as part of its efforts to enhance health awareness and align with global initiatives promoting food safety and addressing the health risks of foodborne diseases. The program included a series of awareness messages, featuring a digital awareness campaign on food safety, its role in reducing foodborne diseases, and key prevention measures. It also included lectures held in cooperation with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority under the titles “Your Food Safety Is a Priority” and “Your Food Is Safe,” focusing on food poisoning risks, detection methods using modern biotechnology, and ensuring food safety and security. The program also featured a workshop on safe food preparation at home and key guidelines for reducing food poisoning risks outside the home, titled “The Safe Food Journey from Store to Table.” It is noted that World Food Safety Day is observed annually on 7 June and aims to strengthen joint efforts to ensure food safety locally and internationally, highlight the importance of adopting correct food handling practices, reduce foodborne diseases, and protect consumer health. This initiative aligns with the Deanship of Student Affairs’ efforts, represented by the Nutrition Unit, to achieve Princess Nourah University’s 2025 Strategic Plan by fostering a health-supportive university environment, enhancing prevention against health risks, and raising awareness among students and staff.
