The Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, in cooperation with the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language, hosted the “Hamzah Academic Test” for Arabic language proficiency for non-native speakers on Sunday, February 16, 2025. The exam was administered with the participation of the institute’s staff. The purpose of the test is to enhance and assess the proficiency of the institute’s members in the Arabic language and establish a globally recognized standard for measuring linguistic competence among non-native speakers. It also aims to strengthen the position and academic presence of the Arabic language locally, regionally, and globally. The “Hamzah Academic Test,” organized by the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language, is a standardized assessment that evaluates four key competencies: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, writing, and speaking. It is designed according to the highest international standards and aligns with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Hosting the test comes within the framework of an existing memorandum of understanding between Princess Nourah University and the King Salman Global Academy, which aims to activate strategic partnership roles by utilizing their capabilities and expertise to achieve mutual goals. The agreement outlines joint work, activities, and initiatives relevant to the Arabic language. The test targets universities, Arabic-language institutes and centers, Arabic language teachers, learners, and various employers that require proficiency assessments. Through this initiative, the King Salman Global Academy seeks to provide valuable input for universities and institutes to determine linguistic proficiency levels among students and trainees—supporting educational institutions in enhancing their programs and capabilities.
