The College of Nursing at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University organized a package of health awareness programs to raise public health awareness on a number of topics, including the “Awareness Program” on the harms of smoking and the “Speak with Confidence” program to address stuttering—contributing to enhanced quality of life within the community. The College implemented the “Awareness Program” to educate about the harms of smoking, clarify its negative impacts, and encourage quitting. The program included an introduction to smoking and its types, its health harms, and its psychological and social effects, in addition to practical tips and steps for quitting and the importance of seeking psychological support and health programs that assist with cessation. The College also delivered the “Speak with Confidence” program to address stuttering. This program included defining stuttering and its types, correcting misconceptions, and supporting participants in how to speak confidently in public, build self-confidence, and engage with audiences. It also included the “One-Minute Challenge,” in which participants spoke about a specific topic in front of the group while focusing on slow breathing and calm speech—aiming to help individuals who experience stuttering strengthen their self-confidence and improve their ability to communicate effectively. In addition, the College implemented the “Your Health Is Our Priority” program on health education related to ovarian cysts, introducing Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and raising awareness of its causes, symptoms, and impacts on physical and psychological health, as well as the importance of a healthy diet and exercise. The program also provided guidance on adopting a healthy lifestyle that helps control symptoms and prevent potential complications. These initiatives come as part of the College of Nursing’s efforts to contribute to the objectives of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s Strategic Plan 2025, in line with the University’s direction to provide a health-supportive environment that improves the lifestyle of its affiliates. They also reflect investment in students’ youthful potential through extracurricular activities that play an important role in building their educational and life experiences.
