Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University honored thirteen students who won the second edition of the Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University Qur’an Memorization Competition, which attracted more than 250 participants and was held at the Conference and Convention Center. The competition was organized by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in cooperation with the Deanship of Student Affairs, as part of the University’s efforts to prepare students to compete locally for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Award for Qur’an Memorization, as well as other international competitions. The competition included three main tracks: memorization of the Holy Qur’an, memorization and recitation of the Qur’an for students with intellectual disabilities, and Qur’anic readings. It was open to students from all colleges of the University (diploma, bachelor’s, and graduate levels). The competition included honoring three students in each branch of the “Qur’an Memorization” track, namely: full memorization of the Holy Qur’an, memorization of 15 consecutive parts, memorization of 5 consecutive parts, and memorization of 3 consecutive parts. In addition, one student was honored in the “Qur’an Memorization and Recitation for Intellectual Disabilities” category for the branch “Memorization of One Part of the Holy Qur’an.” The Chair of the Executive Committee and Supervisor of the Competition, Dr. Amina bint Abdulrahman Al-Khunain, explained that the University formed several supervisory, executive, and scientific committees comprising distinguished academic and administrative staff from Princess Nourah University. A number of workshops and training courses were also conducted to familiarize participants with the competition. These were delivered by members of the scientific committee from the Department of Islamic Studies, specializing in Qur’anic Readings. This initiative stems from Princess Nourah University’s Strategic Plan, which seeks to strengthen the University’s role in serving the community by launching impactful community initiatives aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, which emphasizes care for the Holy Qur’an.
