The College worked on introducing two academic tracks within sub-specializations affiliated with the Law program. The first is the “Zakat and Tax Track,” which launched at the beginning of the second semester of the year 1445 AH as a minor specialization targeting female students of the College of Law and female students of the Accounting Department at the College of Business Administration, to provide them with specialized knowledge in zakat and taxation. The College also completed the establishment of the “Sports Track,” which will launch at the beginning of the academic year 1446 AH, targeting female students of the College of Law to obtain specialized knowledge of regulations and bylaws related to the sports sector, understand legal aspects associated with sports and sporting events. The College won six awards through its students’ participation in legal forums and competitions. These included the awards for “Best Written Memorandum” and “Best Pleading Team for the Second Session” in the Fifth Friendly Moot Court Competition organized by Kuwait International Law School, the award for “First Place in the Intercollegiate Arabic Debate League (Second Edition),” and “Best Written Memorandum Title and Second Place in the Parliamentary Championship (Second Edition),” in addition to “First Place in the Debate Competition (Musajalah) (First Edition),” and “First Place as Best Plaintiff and Defendant Memorandum” in the First English Arbitration Competition organized by King Saud University. The Dean of the College of Law at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, Dr. Abeer bint Abdulaziz Al-Issa, stated: “The College of Law seeks to provide distinguished education that keeps pace with national and global standards, and to produce pioneering research that enriches legal knowledge, offer innovative solutions to legal challenges facing our society, and achieve a positive societal impact through various initiatives and programs, in line with Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to build a bright future based on the knowledge economy and innovation.” Dr. Al-Issa added that the College looks forward to strengthening community partnerships with local and international legal institutions to enable its students to gain distinguished practical experiences and training opportunities that contribute to preparing them for the changing labor market requirements.
As part of its efforts to enhance legal skills and knowledge, the College held a number of training courses during the previous academic year, including the “Art of Litigation (Litigation Procedures)” course, which aimed to develop female legal professionals’ capabilities in legal representation and dispute resolution, and the “Art of Negotiation” course, which targeted the development of the College students’ communication and negotiation skills, including active listening, clear expression, strategic thinking, and dealing with emotions and feelings. The College also activated various activities to enrich the educational community with legal culture and enable its affiliates to demonstrate their capabilities and practice their acquired knowledge. These activities included the “Legal Caravans” initiative, consisting of legal visits carried out by eight legal caravans affiliated with the College’s Legal Clinic to various colleges of the University to provide immediate legal consultations; “Shura at Noura,” a council composed of outstanding students in the College to propose and draft regulations related to university life; and “Scientific Research Day,” which showcased the College’s legal research outputs at the end of the academic year.
