Next Sunday… Launch of the “University Cup Championship – Season Six” at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University

Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, will launch the competitions of the “University Cup Championship – Season Six” on Sunday, 5 April 2026, with the participation of approximately 1,155 students representing 16 colleges and two institutes. The championship will be held at the Women Students Sports Club at the University. The championship, organized by the Sports Affairs Department at the Deanship, will continue until Thursday, 23 April 2026. It aims to promote sports activities, foster a competitive spirit among students, develop team and individual skills, support and empower women’s sports, and encourage students to adopt a healthy lifestyle. The championship also seeks to identify and develop athletic talent and prepare students for external participation, thereby contributing to qualifying teams and players to represent the University in local and international sports competitions. In its sixth season, the championship includes 19 sports tournaments, divided into individual and team sports. The individual sports include athletics, table tennis, taekwondo, badminton, judo, billiards, squash, sports for persons with disabilities, mind sports, e-sports, karate, and jiu-jitsu. Team sports include basketball, volleyball, futsal, handball, softball, rugby, and ultimate frisbee. The championship will also feature awareness booths with the participation of a number of Saudi sports federations, including netball, dodgeball, and rugby, to introduce these sports and opportunities for participation in them through an interactive and practical approach that enhances sports awareness among students and contributes to creating a motivating educational sports experience. The Director of the Sports Affairs Department at the Deanship of Student Affairs at the University, Ms. Ahlam Al-Omari, explained that: “The launch of the University Cup Championship – Season Six reflects the University’s efforts to contribute to achieving its strategic objectives by highlighting the role of women’s competence, enhancing quality of life, encouraging physical activity, discovering athletic talent, and supporting innovation and sports excellence at all levels.” The championship reflects the efforts of the Sports Affairs Department to contribute to achieving the objectives of the strategic plan of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University by supporting quality of life, promoting public health, empowering women in sports, increasing participation in extracurricular activities, and ultimately enabling University teams to represent the institution in local and international championships.
