Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University awarded, on Monday, 9 February 2026, Her Excellency the fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia and Chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, Dr. Megawati Sukarnoputri, an honorary doctorate in the organizational and legal field. This honor was bestowed in recognition of her efforts during her presidency, her outstanding contributions in social, organizational, and legal fields, and her role in strengthening institutional leadership pathways in the Indonesian state, during Her Excellency’s visit and the accompanying delegation to the university. The honorary doctorate certificate awarding ceremony was held at the Office of the University President, in the presence of the Acting President of the University, Dr. Fawziyah bint Sulaiman Al-Amro, and a number of university leaders, as part of an official program that included a protocol reception and the formal awarding procedures in accordance with approved regulations. Her Excellency was granted the Honorary Doctorate Certificate in the organizational and legal field pursuant to the decision of the Princess Nourah University Council No. (6-1-1447 AH) dated 16 Rabi’ Al-Awwal 1447 AH, in recognition of her leadership journey and qualitative contributions to supporting development fields. The visit program included a tour of the Central Library and a meeting with Indonesian scholarship students, aimed at supporting them academically, learning about their educational experiences, and strengthening academic and cultural cooperation between the two sides. Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University awards honorary doctorates based on a set of approved conditions and criteria, most notably that the nominated individual has well-recognized, high-level qualitative achievements with clear impact, characterized by a high degree of originality and innovation, exceptional contributions in scientific, humanitarian, or national fields, and a tangible role in community development and service. The awarding of this honorary degree reflects Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s commitment, as the largest women’s university in the world, to honoring influential international leaders and affirms its position as an active academic institution in recognizing impactful figures and strengthening knowledge partnerships at both regional and international levels.
