The College of Science, represented by the Department of Biology at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, organized the “Graduates’ Preparation Meeting” for students of the Biology and Environmental Sciences programs, with the aim of empowering them academically and professionally and enhancing their readiness to enter the labor market. The meeting was held at the college premises. The event included a comprehensive presentation on field training as a core pre-graduation requirement, highlighting its role in providing students with practical experience, developing professional skills, and familiarizing them with work environments. It also clarified the training mechanism, duration, approved training entities, and students’ responsibilities, in addition to providing a set of guidelines to ensure a successful training experience. The meeting introduced the role of the Graduates Unit and the services it offers, as well as the research services provided by the University’s Natural and Health Sciences Research Center. It also reviewed the programs and initiatives of the Deanship of Scientific Research and the University Libraries, including the “Future Leaders” program, and encouraged students to attend the training courses and educational workshops available at the University, emphasizing their role in skills development and enhancing professional readiness. The meeting further showcased the postgraduate programs offered by the Department of Biology, the admission requirements for each program, and the differences between professional licenses and professional certifications, and their role in supporting career paths, in addition to explaining how graduates can prepare to obtain them. The event highlighted key professional certifications in the field of biology, including programming and Python, biosafety, genetics, animal production and breeding, environmental management and sustainability, and risk management. The Head of the Department of Biology, Dr. Maryam Al-Khatib, stated that “graduation is not the end of the road, but rather the beginning of a new journey toward broader horizons,” praising the students’ dedication and diligence, and urging them to trust in themselves and continue striving toward their ambitions. She added that “this meeting presents the most important knowledge and skills required for Biology students before entering the labor market.” The “Graduates’ Preparation Meeting” comes as part of the College of Science’s efforts, represented by the Department of Biology, to support graduates, develop their skills, and encourage them to obtain accredited certifications that enhance career opportunities, contributing to the achievement of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s Strategic Plan 2025, which aims to prepare competitive competencies, excel in education and learning, and promote women’s leadership in national development.
