The College of Design and Arts at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University will participate, during the period from 22 to 25 October 2025, in the “Saudi Film Forum,” organized by the Film Commission, with more than 30 films addressing various issues and relying on diverse creative methodologies. The films presented by the Department of Cinema and Theatre Arts at the College of Design and Arts cover a number of topics, including women’s empowerment, Saudi identity, human relationships, the environment, and urban life in Saudi cities. Several films also highlight artistic dimensions and experimental imagination in the treatment of imagery and visual symbolism. The college’s participation aims to introduce its academic programs in the Department of Cinema and Theatre Arts, which include five undergraduate programs: the Filmmaking and Animation Program, the Cinematic Production Program, the Performing Arts Program, the Theatre Production Program, and the Music Production and Acoustics Program. The college’s participation includes a panel discussion titled “Academic Programs: The Launch into the Professional World,” delivered by the Dean of the College, Dr. Maha Khayyat, highlighting the importance of academic qualification in preparing professionals for the cinematic sector through educational programs and applied curricula. In addition, specialized workshops in filmmaking and animation are offered by faculty members of the department to enhance knowledge exchange between academics and Saudi filmmakers. The forum, in its third edition, is an event that brings together filmmakers and entities operating in the audiovisual sector under the theme “A Meeting That Transforms the Scene,” with the aim of connecting the academic and professional sectors and supporting the cinematic industry through the exchange of expertise and the development of high-quality partnerships. The participation of the College of Design and Arts at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University in the forum comes as an effort to enhance integration between education and the labor market by connecting human capital represented by female students with active entities in the film industry, in line with Saudi Vision 2030’s goals in supporting creative and cultural industries, empowering national competencies, and contributing to achieving the goals of the university’s 2025 strategic plan through enriching the educational experience and achieving excellence in teaching and learning.
