The College of Sciences at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University participated today, Thursday, 24 April 2025, in the activities of Environment Week 2025 under the slogan “Our Environment Is a Treasure,” by organizing an environmental exhibition and awareness booths at the College premises, with the attendance of faculty members, administrative staff, and students. The College’s participation aimed to raise environmental awareness, educate the community on science and environmental issues, promote conservation of natural resources, rationalize consumption, disseminate knowledge of global best practices for environmental protection and sustainability, and deepen individual and collective responsibility toward preserving resources and ensuring sustainability, reaching the widest possible audience within and beyond the University. The exhibition and awareness booths included a variety of programs and activities, such as educational materials, eco-friendly publications, presentations explaining key scientific concepts related to natural resource protection, documentary films, and a live demonstration of hydroponic farming presented by students from the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences program at the Biology Department. Dr. Arwa Al-Huqail, the event supervisor at the College of Sciences, explained that activating Environment Week 2025 within the university campus aligns with the College’s role in promoting environmental social responsibility, through organizing an environmental exhibition that transforms students’ creative ideas into practical applications and invests in young talents to instill principles, values, and behaviors that emphasize environmental care and contribute to generating innovative solutions. This participation comes as part of the College of Sciences’ efforts to achieve the objectives of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s Strategic Plan 2025, aimed at building bridges with local and global communities and creating a university environment supportive of health and well-being, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative. Environment Week 2025 is a national occasion organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, represented by the Environmental Awareness Initiative, with wide participation from the public, private, and non-profit sectors, as well as individuals, reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.
