National Observatory for Women Hosts Conference “Saudi Women in Development: Ambitious Steps for a Promising Future”

The National Observatory for Women at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University organized the conference titled “Saudi Women in Development: Ambitious Steps for a Promising Future”, held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the University Conference and Seminar Center. The conference highlighted the role of Saudi women in building a prosperous future and achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, with the participation of representatives from official entities and civil society organizations. The third edition of the conference was held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Eng. Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Rajhi, aiming to review indicators of women’s empowerment in light of Vision 2030, introduce key national initiatives to empower women across government, private, and non-profit sectors, and exchange successful experiences, in addition to innovating solutions and initiatives to enhance women’s participation in decision-making. Her Excellency the University President, Dr. Inas bint Suleiman Al-Eisa, stated that the third edition of the National Observatory for Women Conference represents the culmination of a journey that began in 2018, spanning seven years of service based on values of empowerment, knowledge, and leadership, founded on statistical analysis and strategic planning to support women’s participation in national development. She highlighted the Observatory’s local and international presence, particularly its recent participation in the UN Commission on the Status of Women, emphasizing sustainability as a permanent approach in the Observatory’s journey toward empowerment and balanced development. The conference program included five dialogue sessions: Indicators of Saudi Women’s Participation in Development: National Contexts, Empowering Saudi Women since the Launch of Vision 2030: Efforts and Achievements, Saudi Women and Social Innovation: Empowerment and Integration, Women and the Environment: Building a Sustainable Future, and Women in the Labor Market: Supporting Inclusion and Economic Diversity. The program included speeches by the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Eng. Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Rajhi (delivered by the Deputy Minister for Labor, Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Abu Thnein), the President of the General Authority for Statistics, Dr. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Dosari, and the Director of the National Observatory for Women, Dr. Sana bint Mohsen Al-Otaibi. An accompanying exhibition featured over 25 entities related to women’s empowerment, showcasing their efforts, services, products, and initiatives aimed at supporting women’s participation in various economic, social, and health development paths. The conference supports Princess Nourah University’s 2025 Strategic Plan objectives, aimed at enhancing women’s leadership in national development and highlighting their cultural contributions.
