Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Education, Mr. Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University will host the first sports tournament for female students of universities and higher education institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, from 26 April to 1 May 2024, at the University’s sports facilities. This inaugural tournament is the largest Gulf sporting event of its kind for female university students and includes four sports: futsal, tennis, badminton, and volleyball. The tournament aims to enhance sports awareness among female university students, support holistic personal development, promote fair competition, and strengthen fraternal ties among students of Gulf universities and higher education institutions. The event contributes to achieving GCC Vision objectives related to sports excellence, inspiring Gulf youth, developing a new generation of athletes capable of representing the region internationally, enhancing sports movement, showcasing talents, and creating opportunities to practice sports in a supportive environment. Accompanying activities over five days include chess, squash, e-sports, billiards, and yoga. Hosting this event reflects the University’s status as the largest women’s university in the world and its commitment to advancing the sports sector locally and internationally. The University is also the first health-promoting university city in the region accredited by the World Health Organization, supported by integrated systems and world-class sports facilities. The organization of the tournament aligns with Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s 2025 strategic plan to promote a healthy campus environment, enhance quality of life in line with Saudi Vision 2030, and prepare students to represent their University academically and athletically at local, regional, and international levels.
