Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center Wins Four Medals at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva

Four inventions from the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University won awards at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, held in the Swiss city of Geneva, amid participation from more than 1,000 inventions representing 40 countries worldwide in the fields of science, energy, environmental innovations, and human health. The Center won two gold medals for the invention “Broad-Spectrum Solar Energy System Equipped with an Optical Antenna and Photovoltaic Cells,” presented by Dr. Tahani Al-Rabdi, and the invention “Microwave-Assisted Pyrolysis System and Method,” presented by Dr. Thumrah Al-Shahrani. A silver medal was awarded to the invention “Rehabilitation Device for Lower-Limb Amputees” by Dr. Madhawi Al-Otaibi and Dr. Alaa Imad, while the bronze medal went to the invention “Cat Feeding Box” by Dr. Nora Al-Faris and Dr. Jawzaa Al-Tamimi. The Center’s participation aimed to strengthen the scientific presence of Saudi universities, promote knowledge exchange, enable participants to network with inventors worldwide, introduce the University, and collaborate with stakeholders interested in commercializing inventions. Participants presented their innovations through posters, prototypes, visual presentations, and publications in English and French, as well as intellectual property management materials. The 49th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva was held under the patronage of the Swiss government and the World Intellectual Property Organization for five days, from 17 to 21 April 2024, targeting innovators, investors, and students from around the world. This participation supports the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center’s contribution to achieving Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s 2025 strategic objectives by providing a supportive academic environment, preparing a globally competitive generation, contributing to sustainable development goals, strengthening local and global community engagement, and enhancing the University’s international presence.
