The championship involves approximately 900 female students representing 16 colleges and two institutes, taking place at the university’s female students’ sports club headquarters. The championship aims to promote sports activity, foster competitive spirit among students, develop both collective and individual skills, and encourage the adoption of a healthy lifestyle. It also seeks to discover and develop athletic talents and prepare students for external competitions, thereby qualifying teams and athletes to represent the university in local and international sports tournaments. The fifth season of the championship features 16 sports events, divided into: Individual sports, including athletics, table tennis, taekwondo, badminton, tennis, judo, billiards, squash, sports for persons with disabilities, mental sports, and electronic sports; and Team sports, including basketball, volleyball, futsal, handball, and softball. Alongside the championship, a workshop titled “Sports Nutrition to Enhance Performance” was held to introduce participants to the importance of sports nutrition, its vital role in supporting athletes’ physical performance at all levels, achieving optimal balance of nutrients to improve endurance, and accelerating recovery. The workshop also provided practical guidance to help participants choose appropriate foods suitable for their respective sports activities. The Director of the Sports Affairs Department, Ms. Ahlam Al-Omari, emphasized that the launch of the Fifth University Cup Championship reflects Princess Nourah University’s efforts to achieve the objectives of its Strategic Plan 2025, by empowering women, enhancing quality of life, and providing a platform to discover sports talents among students from different colleges. The championship aligns with the Sports Affairs Department’s efforts to contribute to the university’s strategic plan, aiming to achieve sports excellence, support health and quality of life, develop students’ athletic skills, and ultimately prepare university teams to represent PNU in local and international competitions.
