College of Health and Rehabilitation Crowns Innovative Projects at the “Innovations” Exhibition

The College of Health and Rehabilitation at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University awarded the top three projects out of 11 innovative submissions presented by Doctor of Physical Therapy students at the “Innovations” exhibition, held under the motto “From Idea to Light” at the University’s Natural and Health Sciences Research Center. First Place: Sensory Assessment Pen, a multi-tip pen designed to test neurological functions for sensory-neurological assessment of patients. Second Place: Walker for the Elderly, a smart device providing safe mobility, convertible into a cane, with a tracking system and vital signs measurement. Third Place: Suit for Children with Brachial Plexus Palsy, a medical innovation to assist in evaluating and treating children with paralysis, equipped with muscle-stimulating sensors. Other projects included a hearing aid for multiple sclerosis patients, sensory walking device, educational doll, smart shoe, butterfly leather glove, medical bed, and noise-cancelling headphones. Dr. Madawi Al-Otaibi, Director of the College’s Innovation Unit, stated: “The Innovations Exhibition is an effective step to foster a culture of innovation among students, showcase their creative projects, and enhance their participation in local and international competitions.” The exhibition facilitated interaction with academics, health experts, and innovators, promoting creative thinking, improving healthcare services through innovative tools, integrating technologies like AI and IoT, and strengthening collaboration between innovators and healthcare professionals. The exhibition supports the College’s 2025 strategic plan to provide an environment conducive to innovation, research, creativity, excellence in teaching and learning, and the development of competitive national competencies.
