The Deanship of Student Affairs at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University inaugurated the “Malath Student Care Office” on Thursday, 23 January 2025, in the presence of faculty members, administrative staff, and students, with the participation of several external entities specializing in psychological and social counseling. The inauguration took place at the University Recreation Center. The office aims to provide psychological support and counseling services for students, assist them in managing psychological and academic stress, enhance awareness of counseling services, contribute to psychological and social adjustment, and raise the professional and knowledge-based competencies of psychologists and social workers. The Malath Student Care Office seeks to promote awareness of mental health among students and familiarize them with the signs of psychological disorders and appropriate coping strategies through awareness programs and specialized workshops. These efforts address psychological challenges encountered during university life and contribute to building a safe and supportive culture that promotes mental well-being within the university community. The office delivers its services through qualified and specialized staff via in-person counseling sessions. Students may book appointments electronically through the University’s official communication platform, which includes an appointment reminder feature, or visit the office without prior booking. In addition, the office provides follow-up services for urgent cases, whereby situations requiring immediate intervention are referred to the University Medical Center and monitored in coordination with social workers across the University’s colleges. It is worth noting that the Malath Student Care Office is a specialized unit dedicated to providing psychological and social counseling services and was established in accordance with the standards of the National Center for the Promotion of Mental Health. The launch of the Malath Student Care Office forms part of the Deanship of Student Affairs’ contributions toward achieving the University’s Strategic Plan 2025, which aims to create a campus environment that supports health and well-being through optimal utilization of available resources and the promotion of public and mental health awareness across the university community.
