Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University Inaugurates the College of Sport Sciences and Physical Activity

Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University inaugurated the College of Sport Sciences and Physical Activity on Tuesday, 21 January 2025, under the patronage of Her Excellency the President of the University, Dr. Enas bint Sulaiman Al-Issa. The inauguration ceremony, held at the College’s campus, was attended by representatives of government and private entities. The event included a procession titled “Noura Champions”, featuring students who have received local and international sports awards, as well as a documentary visual presentation highlighting the early development of various sports in the Kingdom. The Dean of the College of Sport Sciences and Physical Activity, Dr. Fatimah Al-Muayyad, explained that the establishment of the College responds to the need for a specialized academic environment dedicated to preparing Saudi women to actively participate in the national sports movement. The College aims to develop qualified national competencies that contribute to advancing national development and engage effectively in sports initiatives and projects within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030. She also emphasized the role of sports in promoting development, public health, quality of life, and socio-cultural progress. The inauguration represents a significant addition to the University’s academic ecosystem, as the College offers specialized academic programs that enhance public health and quality of life through promoting physical fitness, healthy sports practices, and scientific research in the field. It also addresses labor market needs for specialized professionals in sport sciences, in line with the rapid growth of the sports sector in the Kingdom. The inauguration aligns with the University’s Strategic Plan 2025, which focuses on developing competitive competencies and achieving excellence in teaching and learning, while supporting Saudi Vision 2030 objectives in the sports and health sectors and strengthening women’s participation in sports.
