Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) recorded a notable increase in the number of its affiliates included in Stanford University’s 2024 list of the top 2% most-cited scientists worldwide, with 24 researchers from the university representing a range of scientific disciplines. This achievement reflects more than a twofold increase compared to 2023, during which seven PNU researchers were listed, underscoring the continuity of the university’s developmental momentum and its sustained role in promoting and supporting scientific research among its affiliates. The Dean of the Deanship of Scientific Research and Libraries at Princess Nourah University, Dr. Maali Al-Abdulhafiz, stated that the inclusion of university researchers among the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists serves as a testament to the quality of research and scholarly output at the university. It also reflects the presence of qualified academic cadres capable of producing influential research within their respective fields, thereby enhancing the university’s institutional reputation locally and internationally, and strengthening research collaboration with external entities. She expressed her appreciation to the researchers whose scholarly contributions have elevated the name of Princess Nourah University to global levels. Stanford University’s list ranks the world’s most influential scientists based on the number of academic citations their published research has received in other studies, using precise metrics and indicators, including: total citations (NC), citations to single-authored papers (NCS), citations to single- or first-authored papers (NCSF), and citations to single-, first-, or last-authored papers (NCSFL). It is worth noting that the scientific fields through which Princess Nourah University affiliates achieved the highest impact and citation rates in the 2024 Stanford list included: sciences, business administration, nursing, pharmacy, engineering, computing, and sports and physical activity. Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s presence in Stanford University’s 2024 list of the top 2% most-cited scientists worldwide aligns with the university’s strategic objectives for 2025, particularly in achieving excellence in education and learning, strengthening the research and innovation ecosystem, and advancing women’s leadership in national development.
