The Development and Quality Deanship (DQD) at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University (PNU), represented by its Program for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (PETL), delivered the sixth cohort of the Academic Excellnece Programme (AEP), which is an accredited professional development program from Advance HE and runs over eight weeks, aimed at the improvement of faculty's teaching and learning practice across the different PNU colleges, and the aligninment of their practice with the Professional Standards Framework (PSF 2023) in Higher Education.
The AEP, which was delivered at PNU's central library and the Development and Quality Deanship, uniquely employed diverse training and development approaches over the course of 6 training sessions, 2 workshops, mentoring sessions, and an observation of teaching practice, which all contributed towards improving faculty's capabilities, and allowing them to attain their teaching and learning Fellowship.
The first AEP session focused on the Professional Standards Framework (PSF 2023) and the Fellowship application requirements, where it defined the PSF 2023, and its dimensions and the Fellowship requirements in the AEP, and covered a range of activities to promote faculty's reflection on their practice in light of the PSF 2023.
The AEP has improved faculty's capabilities in several educational principles and strategies which are inherent within the PSF 2023, and promoted faculty's knowledge of student learning approaches through a focus on active learning, flipped learning, problem-based learning, promotion of critical thinking, assessment and constructive alignment, cooperative learning, and effective learning environments.
The delivery of the accredited AEP serves as a means of the Development and Quality Deanship's efforts and commitment towards contributing in the achievement of PNU's 2025 strategic plan objectives through the professional development of PNU's faculty and female education leaders, promotion of academic talent, and excellence in teaching and learning.
