The College of Designs and Arts, represented by the Department of Cinema and Theatre Arts at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, is participating during the period from October 9 to 12, 2024, in the Saudi Film Forum, organized by the Film Commission affiliated with the Ministry of Culture. The participation includes more than 20 films addressing various issues and employing diverse creative methodologies. The films presented by the Department of Cinema and Theatre Arts address innovative ideas related to problems and issues affecting individuals or society, through the application of creative thinking methodologies, design skills, and critical thinking. The films also examine feasibility and professional-level promotion, preparing graduates for professional competition in the labor market and entry into the world of entrepreneurship. The college’s participation also aims to introduce its academic programs under the Department of Cinema and Theatre Arts, which include five bachelor’s degree programs: Filmmaking and Animation, Cinematic Production, Performing Arts, Theatre Production, and Music and Audio Production. Dr. Haya Al-Rashoud, Head of the Department of Cinema and Theatre Arts at Princess Nourah University, explained that the Saudi Film Forum provides a space for creativity and an opportunity for exchanging expertise, bringing together graduates, students, producers, directors, practitioners, and those interested in the field. The forum showcases innovative ideas and pioneering films that meet labor market needs. She added that the forum, in its second edition, reflects the department’s interest in and support for students and graduates by providing an educational and research environment that stimulates excellence and creativity. The participation of the College of Designs and Arts in the Saudi Film Forum contributes to achieving the objectives of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s Strategic Plan 2025, by offering forward-looking academic programs, empowering women’s leadership in national development, and preparing competitive competencies.
