College of Computer and Information Sciences Participates in the Third Global AI Summit

Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, represented by the College of Computer and Information Sciences, participated in the third edition of the Global AI Summit, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, from September 10–12, 2024, at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center. The College participated through a dedicated pavilion showcasing its work and projects in artificial intelligence and modern technology, reflecting the College’s commitment to representing the University in global forums and highlighting the distinctive achievements of its affiliates. This aligns with the University’s strategic objective of supporting women’s studies and research and showcasing women’s civilizational role. The Dean of the College of Computer and Information Sciences, Dr. Manal bint Abdullah Al-Awhali, explained that the College seeks to provide an integrated academic environment that supports knowledge and the principles of scientific research and innovation, in order to prepare national female competencies that are academically and professionally qualified in AI sciences. She emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence and technology fields as among the latest vital specializations across all areas of life and a key requirement for the labor market. In the same context, and in parallel with the Summit, the College implemented a series of events, awareness lectures, and workshops at the University, hosting AI experts to answer questions related to modern scientific university specializations and the evolving labor market needs in AI. These activities included the lecture titled “Implications and Ethical Challenges of AI Applications,” the workshop “Robot NOA Hands-on Session,” an event titled “Ask Me Corner,” an interactive robotics activity titled “Meet the Robots,” in addition to the “Game Zone” event. The College also coordinated a visit for its students to benefit from the Summit’s events and dialogue sessions, as a leading platform for strengthening global discussion around artificial intelligence, where experts, academics, business leaders, and policymakers from around the world meet to shape the future of AI for the benefit of humanity. The College’s participation in the Global AI Summit contributes to achieving the objectives of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s Strategic Plan 2025, which aims to enhance the research, innovation, and entrepreneurship ecosystem, raise competitive capabilities in education and employment, build students’ capacities, and equip them with 21st-century competencies.
