The Natural and Health Sciences Research Center, represented by the Biobank Department at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, in cooperation with the Saudi Society for Cell and Tissue Technology, has opened registration for the specialized professional program in “Gynecological Cytopathology.” The program targets healthcare professionals, including senior laboratory specialists, laboratory specialists, pathologists, and physicians. The program aims to enhance participants’ foundational knowledge in anatomy, embryology, morphological cytology, and the physiological pathology of the female reproductive system, as well as to develop practical skills, improve the quality and efficiency of laboratory examinations for cervical smear tests, and raise awareness of the importance of early screening. The program, which runs for 18 weeks, offers virtual sessions through the Virtual Academy of Anatomical Pathology and Histopathology Technology, granting participants a professional certificate in gynecological cytopathology examination. The program is accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. The program is distinguished by providing educational content that covers both theoretical and practical aspects of gynecological cytology examination, including training on sample examination in a realistic virtual environment using the latest technologies and practices in the field. This includes virtual cervical smear examinations, which enhance participants’ skills in digital pathology. This initiative aligns with the role of the Biobank Department at the Natural and Health Sciences Research Center in contributing to the achievement of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s 2025 strategic objectives, by enhancing educational and applied performance across all fields, embedding quality in practices and procedures, and achieving the highest levels of healthcare.
