The Deanship of Student Affairs at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University organized today, Sunday, 18 August 2024, the welcome and orientation meeting for new female students for the academic year 1446 AH. The meeting will continue for one week at the University campus. The orientation meeting aims to introduce new students to the University’s colleges and facilities, the applicable regulations and systems, and to provide guidance information regarding available services, university rights and responsibilities. It also introduces students to academic programs and student leadership entities, including the Advisory Council, the University Scouts teams, and student clubs and programs. The orientation meeting across the University’s colleges includes a presentation of services provided by various University entities, a showcase of the “Noura Students” digital application, the presentation of the digital welcome booklet, and a workshop for registration in the Sumuq Program and completion of pre-assessments. It also features informational booths for student services, such as the Psychological and Social Support Unit, the Nutrition Unit, and the Students’ Fund, in addition to virtual tours of University facilities and on-site tours within the university city. In this regard, the Dean of the Deanship of Student Affairs, Dr. Donia Al-Faraj, explained that this year’s meeting is distinguished by diverse introductory explanations through the organization of an interactive welcome exhibition held alongside the orientation meeting, targeting students of the health colleges, science colleges, humanities colleges, the Applied College, and the University’s institutes. Dr. Al-Faraj added: “The welcome exhibition aims to introduce new students to services that enhance university life. Its design is divided into several zones, beginning with the check-in registration area and the informational booths area, followed by the recreational games area, and concluding with training workshops, including the ‘Sumuq’ workshop, the volunteering workshop, the career interest identification workshop, the optimal use of Blackboard workshop, and the workshop introducing the Student Clubs Association.” It is noteworthy that the orientation and welcome activities for new students come within the roles of the Deanship of Student Affairs in contributing to the achievement of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s 2025 strategic plan objectives, by introducing students to a university life that supports creativity and promotes health and well-being, enabling them to prepare for a productive academic journey.
