Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University ranked fourth locally in the 2024 Shanghai Ranking of World Universities, advancing by seven positions locally since its first participation in the ranking in 2022. This achievement is the result of the University’s efforts to increase the number of research papers published in the Web of Science database and published in leading journals such as Nature and Science, in addition to increasing the number of researchers at the University included in the list of the world’s most highly cited researchers. The Shanghai Ranking is one of the global rankings that measures universities’ performance according to four main indicators: the quality of education and university curricula offered, the quality of colleges and their teaching staff, the total volume of recognized scientific research published in top peer-reviewed journals, and Performance Per Capita, which represents a method for determining the overall cognitive and academic development of the University per student, as well as the University’s spending on scientific research. Princess Nourah University achieved 11th place locally in its participation in the 2022 Shanghai Ranking, and 5th place locally in its participation in the same ranking in 2023, reflecting the continuity of the University’s development momentum, reaffirming the efficiency of its academic programs, aligning its research activities with development requirements and global standards, and enhancing its institutional reputation locally and internationally. It is noteworthy that Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University’s presence among lists of the world’s leading universities aligns with the University’s direction toward achieving the objectives of its 2025 strategic plan in attaining excellence and leadership, and affirms its national role in contributing to the achievement of Saudi Vision 2030 goals, which aim for Saudi universities to reach advanced positions in global rankings and for five Saudi universities to be among the top 200 universities worldwide.
