While Saudi Vision 2030 supports innovation and diversification in the scientific research sector, and strengthens the role of universities and research institutions in developing projects aligned with global research fields and trends, the Natural and Health Sciences Research Center at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University completed, by the end of the previous academic year, up to 166 scientific studies across various natural and health fields. The Center also contributed to developing new research tools and methodologies, as part of its efforts to build a high-quality research capacity and to encourage and promote research and scientific activity within the natural and health colleges. The Natural and Health Sciences Research Center includes 26 laboratories, including 6 chemistry labs, 6 physics labs, and 14 biology labs, each of which features a tissue culture room. The Center also has a database center and 20 animal incubators with all necessary requirements, including operating and sterilization rooms. The Research Center provides research, training, and consulting services, including enabling researchers across the Kingdom to use the latest instruments and advanced analytical methods to conduct their research. It also focuses on lifestyle and health behaviors through the “Lifestyle and Health Research Administration,” which aims to bridge the local and regional gap in this field by conducting research, training, and public awareness activities, and by contributing to knowledge transfer related to lifestyle and health research through integrating it into curricular and extracurricular training programs in schools and universities. In addition, it works on developing electronic resources for research tools in lifestyle and health, organizing scientific conferences, workshops, and training courses, and attracting visiting scientists and researchers. The Center offers the “Research Evaluation and Training Program,” which provides researchers and interested individuals from inside and outside the University with intensive training in medical research skills, including lectures, workshops, and courses. These are designed after a careful assessment of researchers’ aspirations and expectations and are delivered by medical research specialists locally and internationally. The Center also offers an “Internship Students Training Program” for all health specialties. The Center provides free research consultation services through the “Data Clinic,” which helps researchers conduct their studies in accordance with research ethics and scientific methodology. It also undertakes research projects and collaborations, including offering researchers the opportunity to share and develop their proposals and research ideas with Center researchers who have similar interests. The Natural and Health Sciences Research Center launched the “Arabic Health Measures Program (AHM)” by establishing the first database of Arabic health measures to help users select reliable measurement tools and increase the number of trusted Arabic health measures, by providing guidance on translating these tools and verifying their accuracy. The Natural and Health Sciences Research Center at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University is one of several research centers at the University, distinguished by its focus on specific research priorities such as the health of children, adolescents, and women, and by linking research to local and regional community needs.
