This marks the University’s achievement after participating in the ranking for the first time. The ranking aims to classify universities based on statistical analysis of scientific citations referencing the University, its researchers, research outputs, discoveries, and inventions, in addition to the impact factor of the scientific journals in which research is published and scientific collaboration. This achievement reflects the notable development of scientific research at Princess Nourah University through providing a motivating educational and research environment, funding research, encouraging faculty members to produce high-quality research, and the University’s focus on activating its research strategies as an extension of national priorities. This has contributed to raising its standing in recognized global rankings and attracting the attention of international students and academics to its distinguished role in education and research. It is noted that the CWTS Leiden Ranking 2024 bases its evaluation on research published as scientific or review articles indexed in the Web of Science database, issued by the U.S. publishing company Clarivate Analytics, and published in the top 1%, 5%, 10%, and 50% of the global journal list. The ranking also uses a set of bibliometric indicators that provide university-level statistics on scientific impact, collaboration, and publishing in open-access journals.
