Brief

Yazan M. Allawi (Member IEEE, JEA) received his Ph.D. in Information and Communications Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Republic of Korea in 2015. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the College of Engineering, Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University (PNU), Saudi Arabia. Prior to his current position, he served as the Head of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department at the Scientific Research and Innovation Support Fund (SRISF), Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Jordan (2018 – 2019), Manager of the Innovative Technology R&D Center and Product Manager with the global business division at HFR, Inc. for Mobile Internet, Republic of Korea (2015 – 2017), Postdoctoral Researcher with the Information and Electronics Research Institute at KAIST (2015), and Research Assistant at KAIST University (2007 – 2015). Early on his career, he made contributions in the area of optical communications including the design and deployment of 5G-ready CWDM-based fronthaul solution for CPRI transport (Nokia’s 1830 VWM), and the realization of the first commercially viable OFDM-PON system. His current research interests include resource allocation and optimization techniques, vulnerability analysis, disaster-resiliency & preparedness, broadband access networks, fronthaul/backhaul integration, carrier Ethernet, 5G-PON, and private 5G technologies.
