Welcome to the Education and Learning Lab Initiative... where we contribute to building a stimulating university environment that integrates knowledge, technology, and creativity to serve modern university education.​

Description:

In support of Vision 2030, Princess Noura bint Abdulrahman University launched the Education and Learning Lab initiative to develop educational practices and enhance the quality of university education.

As part of the implementation of university initiatives, the College of Education and Human Development, represented by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, activated the initiative within the college, with the aim of empowering faculty members and raising their professional competencies, in collaboration with a number of university colleges.

Vision:

The Teaching and Learning Lab aims to be a leading and inspiring platform for the development of university teaching practices, enabling active learning supported by technology and artificial intelligence, achieving excellence in academic performance in line with international standards, and contributing to the well-being and quality of life of learners.​

Mission:

To provide an integrated professional development environment for faculty members by activating effective teaching practices, enabling professional learning communities, and building educational partnerships that contribute to raising the quality of education and lifelong learning, and support the achievement of the university's future vision in digital transformation and educational innovation.​

Description of the Teaching and Learning Lab initiative:

The initiative aims to develop the professional skills of faculty members at Princess Noura bint Abdulrahman University by applying high-impact teaching strategies to achieve the second goal of the university's strategic plan.

The initiative also provides consultation and support to colleges and uses observation and reflection models that help develop professional performance and measure the impact and sustainability of the initiative.

The initiative is a platform for promoting the integration of modern technologies and artificial intelligence into teaching and learning methods, in line with the university's drive towards digital transformation and innovation in education.

The College of Education and Human Development strives to contribute to achieving the objectives of the national transformation programs within Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. In line with our responsibility toward the nation's initiatives to raise awareness about environmental issues and preserve and improve the environment, the College has launched the "Green Education" initiative. This initiative links education with sustainable environmental development by relying on effective practices that contribute to environmental conservation. It also seeks to leverage the College's resources and partnerships to enhance the quality of life within the university. In this context, the College has implemented six projects, starting with the Environmental Awareness Project, followed by the Afforestation and Agriculture Project, the Energy Consumption Rationalization Project within the College, the Recycling Project, the Consumer Concepts Regulation Project, and finally, the Sports and Sustainable Health Project.

Professional development is a phased and ongoing process that is also linked to changes, needs, and crises. It helps in improving and developing the professional knowledge and skills of the administrative staff. Based on this, initiatives and programs for professional development have been proposed and launched for the female staff of the College of Education and Human Development. One of these programs, the "Digital Hour - Phase Two," has been launched as a continuation of the first phase, which took place in the second semester of last year (1445 AH).​

The program focuses on training the administrative staff on some of the most important basic electronic skills required for regular use in the workplace. An hour is allocated each week to explain these skills, ensuring that employees can understand and practically apply them.

The Noura Houses for Educational Expertise

Introduction

The Noura Houses for Educational Expertise at the College of Education and Human Development are among the most strategic services in the educational and developmental fields, aimed at developing human resources.

The Houses of Expertise at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University aim to provide scientific, research, and training services to the community within their three fields of specialization. This is achieved by leveraging the intellectual assets of academics and experts to contribute to community development and enhance individuals' capabilities and skills.

House of Consulting and Professional Development

This house focuses on providing consulting services, collaborating on the development of educational projects, designing well-structured training packages, and offering training programs such as: 

• Evaluation of research tools

• Creativity development

• Preparation for cognitive ability tests

House of Talents

This house focuses on training students in various arts, enabling them to create marketable artworks and equipping them with diverse competencies that prepare them for the job market.
Programs include:

• "Let It Go" Initiative: Focuses on entertainment and supporting students to overcome academic stress.
• Silkscreen printing on T-Shirts
• Flower arrangement

The Digital House

This house focuses on developing technological and digital skills through training in areas such as:

• Remote meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams)
  
• Technological innovations in E-learning
• Academic production for university staff: pathways to quality and globalization

Collaboration Project with the Ahyaha Foundation

• This project is a collaboration between the Office of Business and Project Management at the College of Education and Human Development at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University and the Ahyaha Humanitarian Foundation to support the children at the Care Home by providing an educational, recreational, and behavioral program.
• Key activities include:
• Recruitment and Training of Volunteers: Sixteen senior-level university students in Early Childhood major were recruited to volunteer and trained for the project, with written consent obtained from their parents.
• Site Visit: The project supervisor and the monitoring team visited the care home to determine the number of children, their ages, social and educational conditions, and to finalize the scientific and artistic programs to be provided in the classrooms.
• Monitoring Volunteering Student Performance: The volunteers are monitored for discipline, performance, and adherence to the schedule of activities in the daily kindergarten program.
• Biweekly Meetings: Regular meetings are held every two weeks with the students and care home staff to track the program's impact on the children and adjust as needed by the specialized team in coordination with the project supervisor.
• Biweekly Training Sessions: A training session is provided every two weeks for all volunteer students along with the care home staff.
