The Applied College at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, in collaboration with Wujhat Altamiz for Educational Technologies (“Tamayyoz Platform”), hosted the third Education Hackathon, “Innovation in Education,” on Thursday, November 28, 2024. The event brought together 2,000 participants representing 420 teams from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and more than 40 universities. The hackathon included 30 specialized mentoring sessions via the “Nawafith” app from Monsha’at, as well as public sessions for all participants delivered with the support of experts in the hackathon’s fields. It also featured six workshops, combining general workshops designed to help participants showcase their ideas and build robust technical prototypes, and specialized workshops to develop ideas directly along the hackathon tracks. The hackathon offered an intensive training camp in four tracks: Medical Education, Learning Management Systems, Quran Education, and Digital Marketing. The aim was to enhance participants’ technical and innovative skills and provide practical experiences that improve their career prospects and increase their ability to contribute to knowledge-based and technology-driven sectors. The CEO of the Applied College, Dr. Rana bint Suliman Al-Aqeeli, explained that the hackathon serves as a platform that brings together a distinguished group of innovators and entrepreneurs from across the GCC region with the aim of developing innovative solutions to advance the education sector. She emphasized the college’s commitment to supporting innovation and enhancing participants’ practical skills, in a way that creates a positive and sustainable impact on improving educational services and empowering future generations. This initiative is part of the Applied College’s role in contributing to the strategic objectives of Princess Nourah University’s Strategic Plan 2025, which aims to provide a supportive environment for innovation and help prepare a generation of creative women capable of building a sustainable knowledge society.
