Psychological and Social Support Unit:
The Psychological and Social Support Unit aims to provide high standard services and activities in the field of psychological and social counselling for students. These services are offered through the psychological and social counselling offices at the Applied college Building 140, First Floor, Office No. 0.101.and the Student Care Office (Malath) located in the Recreational Center, Building 190, First Floor, Office No. 1.307.
Unit Responsibilities:
- Provide psychological, counseling, and social support services to students.
- Plan and implement specialized programs and activities—both preventive and therapeutic—in the field of psychological and social counseling, tailored to the students' needs and aimed at helping them address academic and social challenges.
- Review and assess cases of students applying for financial assistance, as well as exceptional cases of students applying for university housing and childcare services.
- Conduct individual interviews with each case to collect all relevant data and information related to the issue, followed by a comprehensive assessment to determine the nature and type of the problem, and whether the student needs to be referred to a psychological specialist at the Student Care Office (Malath).
- Monitor the student's progress to ensure improvement in her condition.
- Implement therapeutic and rehabilitative plans under the supervision of psychological specialists.
- Contribute to identifying and documenting academic and social issues affecting students within the college.
- Raise students' self-awareness, familiarize them with university rules, regulations, and policies, and promote values, ethics, and general conduct.
- Continuously develop the quality of counseling services offered to students within the college, facilitate their access to university services, and submit proposals that contribute to enhancing the university environment for all students.
