Sports Affairs Department Concludes the Fifth Season of the University Cup Championship

The Sports Affairs Department at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University concluded the fifth season of the University Cup Championship on Wednesday, 7 May 2025, with the crowning of winning teams in (16) individual and team sports tournaments. The championship witnessed the participation of more than (900) students from (16) colleges, under the patronage of the President of the University, Dr. Enas bint Suleiman Al-Issa, at the Students’ Sports Club. The College of Languages won first place in the women’s softball team championship, followed by the College of Designs and Arts in second place, and the College of Business Administration in third place. In the women’s volleyball team championship, the Health Colleges achieved first place, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences came in second, and the College of Business Administration secured third place. The College of Languages also won first place in the women’s basketball team championship, followed by the College of Sport Sciences and Physical Activity in second place, while the College of Humanities and Social Sciences ranked third. In futsal, the College of Engineering achieved first place, the Applied College came in second, and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences placed third. In the handball championship, Team “B” from the College of Sport Sciences and Physical Activity won first place, followed by the College of Business Administration in second place, while Team “A” from the College of Sport Sciences and Physical Activity came in third. Female students participating in individual championships were honored after securing first places in individual sports, including athletics, squash, tennis, table tennis, badminton, billiards, taekwondo, judo, chess, sudoku, and electronic games. The Director of the Sports Affairs Department, Ms. Ahlam Al-Omari, stated that “the fifth season of the University Cup Championship witnessed unprecedented expansion in participation and sports diversity, reflecting the growing interest in university sports and the promotion of physical activity culture within the University.” She added that this year’s championship was distinguished by the introduction of seven new electronic sports, the expansion of intellectual sports, and the inclusion of handball and athletics for students with disabilities. The organization of the championship aligns with the Sports Affairs Department’s efforts to support athletic activities and contribute to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 related to enhancing quality of life, as well as fulfilling the objectives of Princess Nourah University’s Strategic Plan 2025 by encouraging student participation in sports and refining their skills to represent the University locally and internationally.
