The Applied College at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, in collaboration with Wajhat Al-Tamayuz for Educational Technology (“Tamayuz Platform”), hosted on Thursday, 28 November 2024, the third Education Hackathon titled “Innovation in Education.” The event was attended by 2,000 participants representing 420 teams from the GCC countries and more than 40 universities. The hackathon included 30 private mentoring sessions via the Nawafidh application (Monsha’at), as well as general sessions for all participants in collaboration with expert specialists across the hackathon tracks. It also offered six workshops, ranging from general workshops that helped participants present their ideas to specialized workshops focused on developing correct and professional technical prototypes—enabling direct idea development within the hackathon pathways. The hackathon featured an intensive training bootcamp across four tracks: medical education, learning management systems, Qur’an education, and digital marketing. The aim was to strengthen participants’ technical and innovative skills, provide hands-on experiences that enhance their career opportunities, and increase their capacity to contribute to knowledge- and technology-based sectors. Dr. Rana bint Sulaiman Al-Aqili, CEO of the Applied College, stated that the hackathon serves as a platform that brings together outstanding innovators and entrepreneurs from across the GCC to propose creative solutions that contribute to advancing the education sector. She emphasized the college’s commitment to supporting innovation and strengthening participants’ practical skills, thereby creating a positive and sustainable impact on improving educational services and empowering future generations. This initiative aligns with the Applied College’s role in advancing Princess Nourah University’s Strategic Plan 2025, which aims to provide a supportive environment for innovation and contribute to preparing a generation of innovators to build a sustainable knowledge society.
