The Medical Skills and Simulation Center at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University celebrated the International Week of Healthcare Simulation 2024 on Thursday, September 19, 2024, for the eighth consecutive year, in appreciation of professionals working in healthcare simulation and to raise awareness of its importance in developing skills and improving the quality of healthcare. Through this celebration, the Center seeks to contribute to a qualitative leap in medical education and align with Saudi Vision 2030 by building advanced educational experiences that meet labor market needs and providing high-value educational practices supported by artificial intelligence and virtual reality technologies. The events included a presentation of the Center’s services and achievements, along with two workshops and a “Simulation” activity attended by representatives from the Medical Skills and Simulation Center. Discussions also addressed collaboration opportunities with King Abdullah University Hospital staff and health colleges, highlighting the objectives of activating the International Week of Healthcare Simulation in knowledge and experience sharing. The Simulation activity, designed for female students and trainees from health colleges, featured training stations equipped with medical tools, equipment, and mannequins for clinical skills training such as surgical suturing, catheterization, and airway management. The Center also delivered the “TOT on the Go Simulation” workshop to equip healthcare trainers with essential knowledge and skills for delivering effective educational and assessment activities using simulation, in addition to organizing the “Basic Course in Obstetric” workshop to develop essential obstetric skills for midwives and trainees using advanced medical mannequins and simulation rooms. Studies indicate that healthcare simulation centers play a pivotal role in improving medical education quality and training healthcare professionals worldwide by enabling complex medical scenario simulations and decision-making, which enhances clinical judgment and teamwork. These efforts align with the Medical Skills and Simulation Center’s contribution to achieving the Princess Nourah University Strategic Objectives 2025, which focus on enhancing competitive outputs, building an integrated healthcare system that anticipates future needs, and investing in students’ potential through extracurricular activities that enrich educational and life experiences.
